Re: EU Ref

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-36700350 A legal firm is claiming that Britain can't trigger Article 50 without the consent of Parliament. ie. A Prime Minister cannot do it alone - they have to get it agreed by Parliament first. I'm surprised this is even open to debate. Parliament is our sov...

Re: EU Ref

The problem is, you can't put the genie back into the bottle. When almost 30% of the voters can't be bothered to vote for something so important, what chance is there. But this was fairly predictable, given the question asked - because in a binary choice there is always more inclination to vote for...

Re: EU Ref

because in a binary choice there is always more inclination to vote for change than to protect the status quo, You really need to start your post with 'In my opinion' instead of presenting your opinions as 'Substantiated facts.' 1975 Referendum vote Voted to protect the status quo, 2012 PR Voter vo...

Re: jigsaw-and-more: Europe’s biggest collection of jigsaw puzzles

This offer confused me at first. The description sounds like a museum.
But once I clicked through, all the pieces fell into place.

 Thank you, thank you, I'm here all week!

Pub Quiz

You know that perennial pub quiz question... What is Michael Caine's real name? Well, if you were going to say Maurice Micklewhite, you'll be mistaken. His real name is.... Michael Caine. He's changed it by deed poll. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/michael-caine-name-change-deed-poll-isis-...

Re: Hinkley Point poll

I'm not against nuclear power in principle. I think it's a cleaner, more efficient, and more sustainable means of electricity production than burning fossil fuels and with more capacity, control and reliability than most of the 'green' alternatives. However, it carries the most risk if something doe...

Re: Hinkley Point poll

one of the beneifits of Nuclear was the supposed "too cheap to meter" cost per unit - and these latest reactors have an agreed cost point way in excess of even green energy production. So it seems to be a bad deal in that way. Yes, I knew there was another point bothering me! It seems Hinkley C wil...

Re: Take away his knighthood

I've noticed this little gem doing the rounds again recently: http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m8hkxiQ2Yo1qz4eis.jpg It's actually from the 2012 London Olympics, and Bradley Wiggins never said it - it was written by someone called Colm Quinn. Here's the correct original exchange: http://i.imgur.com/un...

Re: Will you get our 5 millionth transaction?

Beachboy carthorpe, diane4 , markat, HDee, William Joseph I'm pleased to see not the usual suspects names. I think the people who post on the forum are the tip of the iceberg in terms of the active membership. It's quite possible that some of these winners had no idea there was a promotion running ...
