Rather like the first post in this thread, which references the BBC's report of this story, using the exact same photo.

So put your cocks back

Bloomin daylight robbery
And there far more burglaries when the clocks go back. Not my thinking that but the Co-op Insurance Co, trawled their records going back some years to come up with the correct figure.

And the Co-op is the only company with records? If you look at another company or combine the records for all companies. You may come up with a very different answer.
There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.

I beg to differ, there are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and the misuse of statistics.

I consider the work of the Co-op to be the correct use of statistics.

But whether or not there is an increase in burglaries when the clocks change what is indisputable is there is an increase in road accidents when the clocks change.

The co-op have used a selective set of statistics. Their own! Whilst what you say may be true of the co-ops experience. It is a misuse of statistics to extrapolate that into the industry as a whole. To get a correct figure you would need to collate the figures from the industry as a whole.

But why would the Co-op have vast differences to other insurers on this?

Are they of comparative size to other insurers, do they have a larger or small exposure to this type of insurance than other companies? I don't know. I am simply saying they may be correct in respect of their own business. But can not predict accurate figures for the industry as a whole from their business alone.
