Former US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers tells Bloomberg:
I think the UK is behaving a bit like an emerging market turning itself into a submerging market.

Between Brexit, how far the Bank of England got behind the curve and now these fiscal policies, I think Britain will be remembered for having pursuing the worst macroeconomic policies of any major country in a long time.

“I don’t know whether that is arrogance, lack of respect or insecurity.”
Nicola Sturgeon, Scotland’s first minister, tells the BBC that she has not received a single phone call from Liz Truss since she became prime minister more than a month ago.
Presumeably her phone is a two way instrument.

It sounds as though she has not tried to call. Although equally I would not blame the Truss if she ignored it.

“The dark cloud of suicide means that too much potential has gone unfulfilled and too many families have been left incomplete. The work to tackle this must respond to evolving challenges and be fit for the decade ahead.”
On World Mental Health Day, former home secretary Sajid Javid talks about losing his brother, Tariq, to suicide four years ago and urges the government to do more to prevent others from taking their own lives.

Hopefully the family tragedy will mean the Govt does something meaningful and not spout good intentions that lead to very little or even nothing
Keep smiling because the light at the end of someone's tunnel may be you, Ron Cheneler

From this government, I'd be grateful for the good intentions.
