Gordon the Energy Advisor's new scam......

I've been getting daily calls from Gordon. He's a friendly chap, concerned about the problems with my insulation - although he does seem to be a bit deaf, never answering questions and just rolling through his list...... nor refraining from cold-calling me despite my number being registered and my requests that he do so.

However, there is an interesting side to this...... he is using a different number each day. I have been blocking his number for the past few weeks and... guess what.... I've now run out of capacity on my blacklist. This is the new ploy, flood you with different numbers until your defences are breached and then they have a free hand....

It really is time that OFCOM actually did domething about these scammers rather than just coming out with weasel words. A simple requirement is to ensure that ALL calls have a genuine provisioning number which can be traced - because blocking a call coming from a non-UK source but spoofing a UK number is not beyond the capacity of the technology.

As anyone who remembers Jilted John can attest, Gordon is a Moron.

I have a simple & effective policy - if I don't recognize the number, I leave it to the answering machine

No message invariably means unimportant or scam
