Gender thoughts

Post by blythburgh » Mon May 29 2023 10:34am

I read that an elderly lady was handed a form to fill in at a hospital (I think) with nearly 30 genders to choose from: male/female etc and includes two spirit

At the other end of the spectrum is my District Council form for renewing a bus pass (had to renew as not used since pandemic so not sent automatically). I could choose from male or female

Surely they can respect that not everyone fits neatly into a box and make sure that the respect does not go to ridiculous lengths

I am lucky to be able to tick female without feeling there should be another box for me. But cannot help but feel that young people who are still growing emotionally and mentally are being forced into feeling they are not in the right body. There is no box that say a male or a female must be exactly like this. All boys/men and girls/women are somewhere in the male/female spectrum. A person like Tom Daley who loves to knit and crochet is still a man in the same way as a person who finds babies boring and never wants a child of their own is still a woman. But sadly now if you are a girl who would have been called a tomboy or a boy who is more sensitive then you can be made to feel you are not the sex you were given at birth.

And the trans people and their supporters who hurl abuse at anyone who dares to disagree with them merely makes it harder for all people who feel they do not fit in the sex they were assigned a birth. The latest high profile example is the trans woman who has been banned from top level cycling competitions. Very sad for her but sadly she will always have certain advantages over the competitors who were born a woman. Sport especially at the elite level needs to be as level a playing field as possible and women born women should not be placed at an advantage by a trans woman IMHO.

Have you been reading the Daily Mail? They're not so keen to report on the Gender Critical man that nearly killed an 86 year old cis woman with dementia, because he thought she was trans. He beat her up and stuffed her into a wheelie bin. She was just walking home.
During the early-morning attack, in Dublin’s Ranelagh area, Bailey knocked Marie MacGowan to the ground, put her head in a wheelie bin while applying pressure to the lid, kicked and punched her in the face, the court heard.

According to the Irish Times, the pair met at about 2am after MacGowan got lost on her way home, with CCTV footage showing Bailey was with her for more than an hour – sporadically assaulting her for 42 minutes.
In a victim impact statement, MacGowan’s son, Jack, stated that the assault “nearly killed her” and she required 24/7 specialist care for months afterwards.

“It has impacted her life in a major way and significantly reduced her quality of life,” he said.
Bailey’s lawyers told the court he had “induced psychosis” after taking a significant number of intoxicants, and was under “the delusional belief that the victim was a predatory pedophile” and a male dressed as a female.

I sometimes read bits of the right wing papers on MSN page. And of course The Daily Fail is not going to upset their readers with uncomfortable truths.

Sadly there are violent idiots on both sides of the gender debate
