Look at this a different way:

There are many things from fiction or historical commemorations that jar with today's prevailing standards. When's it right to let them pass and when should we censor (or censure) them? I note, for instance, that archive TV featuring Jimmy Saville or Rolf Harris is never broadcast and Gary Glitter records are never on the radio.

With emotions running high in the US about racial injustice, perhaps a temporary withdrawal of GtW is a prudent gesture.
...should we withdraw the Bible temporarily, will that help the situation?

Oh, and should we start a petition to remove The Pyramids as well, if you think that will also help? :wtf:

Understand but aren't adverts like the following promoting racism?: https://www.etsy.com/featured/blackowne ... dium=email
No, because blacks cant be racist.
One of the most racist people I know is black. She is from the smaller group in Zimbabwe, the Ndebele. She once told me of the time she went out with a few friends. One person at the table, a friend of a friend, asked why she seemed not to like him. The reply was because you are a Shona. No way was she prepared to accept him as a human being and find out his views. His tribe meant he was the enemy to her.

Racism is against people of colour, against Roma and other travellers, white people and basically anyone who is not like us in background as well as colour.

I enjoyed seeing "Gone with the Wind" many years ago but felt the portrayal of the black people was wrong. I have often seen films from before WW2 especially portraying African Americans in such an appalling way and winced. And that goes back to my childhood which was a long time ago.

Which bits of the Bible do you consider might be problematic?

Here's a starter:

Leviticus 25:44-46 44 "Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. 45You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. 46You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly."

There's plenty more if you want to read the good book... Oh should I have said that? Will it be censored? :wtf:

No. It's saying who the Israelites may and may not take as slaves.
Although some may have used that passage int he past to justify slavery, it's *not* advocating it, still less promoting slavery.

Any other passages you want to suggest?

Take a look at the good book (whilst its still available) yourself you will find a good few references to slavery - you might even learn a few things. Glad you agree the Bible has passages promoting slavery, Oh sorry we can't talk about that now! :wtf:
