I signed petitions and supported the removal of VAT on women's samitary products. When VAT was introduced they decided not to put it on essentials. Ice cream, chocolates and sweets were exempt at first though eventually were taxed but only recently has the tax on something many woman cannot do without has had the VAT removed.
So you can imagine my shock at being asked to sign a petition yesterday to remove the 20% VAT on loo rolls.
Yes, when they brought in VAT they deemed ice cream and chocolates as an essential but sanitary products and loo rolls were not so had VAT added.
I know I can do without ice cream etc but I must have paper in my bathroom as I do not want to have to buy a newspaper and cut it up for the use after reading it
