Despite the coverage of the US reaching 100k deaths, their excess death rate seems relatively low.
Presumably a lot of their deaths would have happened anyway due to other existing issues, but the presence of Covid-19 has caused it to be recorded as a CV death. From this data we don't know the extent to which CV caused the death; it may have been instrumental, or just the straw that broke the camel's back, or indeed not a factor at all.

Be wary if you are suddenly contacted by someone purporting to be from ‘track and trace’ asking you to click on a link to register. This is another opportunity for scammers to take advantage of the unwary. Stay safe folks.

The US is huge, so the virus has mainly impacted a few hotspots with other areas largely unaffected and distant from hotspots. The UK has oubreaks in every county, though the level of infection varies. However, due to geographical proximity, the end of lockdown in the UK is more problematical. If ten times as high a percentage have been infected in a reporting area in London than in a rural reporting area, then the potential is for the second area to see a vast increase once lockdown is lifted, but density will also impact this.... it's a complex modelling job.

As has been pointed out, the cause of death on the death certificate is the final arbiter, although this will likely lead to under-reporting, rather than over-reporting, since COVID-19 can't be assumed unless testing took place..... many will be listed as dying from pneumonia, sudden kidney failure, etc. Doctors face penalty, including loss of registration, if they "guess" the cause of death.

If you are concerned about whether a call, text or email has genuinely come from the NHS Test and Trace service, you can visit its web page which lists the official phone number 0300 013 5000 and other contact details.

Genuine contract tracers will never ask you for any financial information such as credit card or bank details.

They will also not ask you to set up a password or Pin over the phone, or to call a premium rate number, such as those starting 09 or 087.

If you don’t want to talk over the phone, you can ask for an email or text inviting you to log into the web-based service instead.

"Hello. I am a contact chaser for the NHS
I am contacting you because a Nigerian prince has gifted you $2m.
All you have to do to claim this money is to let me have your bank details and password,
Thank you......"

"Hello Mr Contract Tracer, it's fortunate you called. I've been suffering from COVID-19 symptoms after encountering Dominic Cummings at a service station on the A1.

Oh, yes, now that I think about it, 10 days later I definitely also came into close contact with Priti Patel, Michael Gove and this list of other people that deserve to be put away in isolation somewhere they'll no longer be able to harm the public..."
