Royal Mail - comes up trumps!

Post by Boro Boy » Sun May 31 2020 2:07am

So with no announcement I had a mail delivery on Saturday! Not world shattering but surprising!

So has mail been delivered this weekend elsewhere in the country or was this a one off...???

It depends what it was; they only stopped letter deliveries, so if you received a package/parcel then that would still be within current expectations. I did see a Royal Mail van delivering to my street on Saturday.

Normally, they do. During the lockdown, Saturday mail deliveries have been suspended.

Not letters or parcels for me yesterday and I didn't see any Royal Mail van.

Postie told me parcels and packages are getting priority.

Not complaining since most of my mail is from BluepillCheapThrill.com.

I've received deliveries on weekends and evenings ver the past few months.
Probably mainly couriers, but pretty sure there's been some Royal Mail deliveries at random times too.

No they announced 4 or 5 weeks ago that the stresses on their delivery system (even though they were moving much less letters) because of the Virus would only be relieved by dropping Saturday deliveries but I had not heard they were starting again so surprised...

Royal Mail is almost back to normal for most parcels now, apart from International and some low priority like 2nd class. It was letter deliveries on a Saturday they were cutting out, probably because of the horrendous backlog of parcels they had to clear from the Easter Bank Holiday weekend and letter deliveries were a distraction. They had more mail in the system than at peak Christmas on the Tuesday after, with some Mail Centers and Delivery Offices having less than 50% of staff present, so quite a problem to fix.

Which takes us back to the question at the beginning about Saturday letter delivery....
