World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought

Only one worthy of celebrating IMHO

King Edward 1 doesn't seem to qualify despite me being a Royalist

Yes I agree. I put it in as I felt it a good example in the current climate of history at the risk of being hidden. We should celebrate our history, learn and grow from it. We can celebrate the fact that we have moved on from those days and we are (I think, in a better world) although sometimes I wonder if we are actually learning anything from history.

You are correct. If we brush stuff under the carpet we have no chance of learning from the past. Or put people into the context of their age.

Wonder how the future will look at us. Will our descendants feel the same sense of shock that we would have botox injections as we feel at women in the past putting poisons onto the face to look paler?
