He was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer four years ago, but kept it a secret from all but his closest family and friends.
A stage 3 tumour suggests it had penetrated through the wall of the colon, but not spread.... however it is a reminder of how aggressive these things can be.
If you have access to NHS screening, please don't think it is something to be ignored - my own tumour grew from nothing to Stage 2 in just 2 years, but thankfully it was operable. If there is a history of cancer in your family, speak with your GP to ensure you are monitored. Cancer kills - Don't Put It Off!!
In Chadwick Boseman, it has cut short the career of a talented actor and deprived the world of his abilities. It has robbed his family of their loved one and removed a role-model for young Black actors at this time of change.
