You as are others are entitled to make your choice. I suspect the majority of people will choose not to wear a face covering so IMO you will be following the herd. That is fine, it is what choice is all about.
Just because the majority are doing what I am doing doesn't mean I am "following the herd" more likely the herd is following me.

If I get on a bus and the driver is wearing a mask , yes . If I go in a shop and all the staff are wearing masks , yes . Otherwise no .

That is me making the decision to treat them as they are treating me , but you are entitled to your opinion .

marginally off topic - but just to confirm that you can still catch covid after being double vaccinated -

happened to two colleagues at work in the past two weeks.

Not sure about necessarily being less serious

- in the first wave I knew people that caught it and had symptoms ranging from one that was rushed to hospital and thought unlikely to come out (fortunately they did) to others who experienced nothing worse than mild flu like symptoms -

so there was a range of effects even back then.
If you are double jabbed like Javid you might not get is as severely but long covid is still a risk

..but a small risk. If you're double-vaccinated, the risk of symptomatic covid is already low; the risk of it then being long is then very much smaller.

If you live by numbers rather than examples..... and if it is the "right" strain of Covid and you have had the "right" vaccine and you happen to have no pre-existing issues for the virus to exploit.

The reason for restrictions on people arriving from France is, supposedly, due to the greater incidence of the Beta variant there and the concern that the Astra Zeneca vaccine may not be so effective against that. New strains will bring their own issues - there are already examples of people contracting Covid more than once - and even having more than one strain of the virus active at the same time.

In Portugal they say "Death needs no excuses" .... and neither does this virus. Wearing a mask is the socially responsible thing to do whilst there are risks to those around you.
Just because I'm paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get me

Went to church last night so we could finally sing together as a church. Everyone was in masks when they entered. Our Rector said we would wear masks as a sign of love for others.

Tesco shopping: no one person I saw was maskless

The only public place I visited yesterday was a stop at motorway services. I'd estimate approximately 50% of people there were wearing face coverings.
