Hi,
My sister has asked me to give a reading at her wedding
She would like something modern(ish) & non religious
She is a big music fan so was hoping I could find some suitable lyrics - but most of them seem to be more suitable as wife to husband / husband to wife rather than to them both.
Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks

Accepting that this isn't gender neutral, I still think it has a lot going for it
Bob Marley wrote:You may not be her first, her last, or her only. She loved before she may love again. But if she loves you now, what else matters?
She's not perfect—you aren't either, and the two of you may never be perfect together but if she can make you laugh, cause you to think twice, and admit to being human and making mistakes, hold onto her and give her the most you can.
She may not be thinking about you every second of the day, but she will give you a part of her that she knows you can break—her heart. So don't hurt her, don't change her, don't analyze and don't expect more than she can give.
Smile when she makes you happy, let her know when she makes you mad, and miss her when she's not there.
Just because I'm paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get me

Thanks for this
I had seen that one in my research
Though apparently nobody can find the actual text or lyric that comes from to attribute it to Bob Marley!

Yeah, silly me, I just accepted it - though I did wonder about the very non-Rastafarian language......

This is worth a go (written by a fellow Shannonsider, Johnny Duhan)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7lviVoTHVA
Can ye sing?
I am a sailor, you're my first mate
We signed on together, we coupled our fate
Hauled up our anchor, determined not to fail
For the heart's treasure, together we set sail
With no maps to guide us we steered our own course
Rode out the storms when the winds were gale force
Sat out the doldrums in patience and hope
Working together we learned how to cope
Life is an ocean and love is a boat
In troubled waters that keeps us afloat
When we started the voyage, there was just me and you
Now gathered 'round us, we have our own crew
Together we're in this relationship
We've built it with care to last the whole trip
Our true destination's not marked on any charts
We're navigating to the shores of the heart
