Another great post from macliam but I take issue on his fishermen selling quota. It was the owners of the trawler fleet here who sold the quota not the fishermen. Thankfully they could switch to supporting the oil and gas platforms in the North Sea. But how happy the fishermen were at the change I do not know. But fishing is in the blood of those men so not sure they would have chosen that route if they had been the owner of their own boat

OK, I accept the point regarding non-owning fishermen - but the boat owners were fishermen - and fishermen without a boat can't fish (and had no quota). The "little guys", like little guys everywhere, were always going to get squeezed by the big players - and there's little that will change that. The decline of the British fishing industry was, like the decline of the cotton mills and the decline of the East Anglian wool market, on the cards - especially in a country that eats so little fish caught around its own coasts.
(Believe me, this isn't only a British issue, Ireland eats little fish too - odd for an island stuck out in the Atlantic!)

Not sure it's the same thing. Aren't trawlers deep sea boats (North Sea, Atlantic)? The current dispute largely concerns day boats operating in coastal waters.

Many fishermen voted for Brexit because it would help them then they were sold down the river by the Govt.

Yes, and much good will it do them......

Just like many others who voted due to issues not related to the EU.

"UK’s Brexit losses more than 178 times bigger than trade deal gains"
All trade deals combined worth less than 50p per person a year, analysis of government figures shows
The tiny economic boost – amounting to just 0.01 to 0.02 per cent of GDP, and less than 50p per person a year – is dwarfed by the economic hit from leaving the EU, which the government estimates at 4 per cent of GDP over the same period.
Official estimates from the Office for Budget Responsibility point to a Brexit loss of over £1,250 per person over the coming years – over 178 times the most optimistic prediction for the benefits from the trade deals.

ONS is now collecting and publishing data on supermarket shortages:
Shelf availability of items sold in UK stores between 29 October and 1 November 2021 were lowest for “sparkling water” category, with 23% of items either “none” or “low”

Expect to see the ONS "reformed" for failing to support the government line.

I'm sure Kwasi Kwarteng will advise Sir Ian Diamond to "consider his position"........

There's a lot more damage that can be added to this list... e.g. professor R. Daniel Kelemen already finished logging 1000 reports of harm caused by Brexit reality last month...
