I would need to see it in situ, but my initial reaction is not at all positive. It looks clumsy and not particularly expressive - rather like a miniature model that has been expanded to massive proportions without any attempt to correct any defects.... Personally, I would feel embarrassed to be connected with it and none too happy had I contributed to the cost.

I don't think it is anywhere near as iconic as the Angel of the North.

The height is only 8m vs 20m for Angel of the North, so it's much smaller anyway. Its outer surface looks like clay or similar - presumably the bronze is covered up? I wonder how different it'll appear after a few years of rain!

I have a horrible feeling that the clay-like surface is deliberate and part of the casting, hence my comment about it looking like a miniature model magnified, with no attempt to smooth out the "defects".
I still reserve final judgement, but my first impression is a distinct "not impressed"......

It is meant to look like the coast which has been eroding over the centuries and but now is going at a faster rate. It even has bones coming out of the body as they have been found at nearby Dunwich for example.

The same coast which they are planning to build the two nuclear power station Sizewell B

Knowing that, it makes more sense, otherwise it simply looks unfinished
