I would love the current state of affairs because it means the Tories have no chance of winnning the next election. But although we do not rent, have a mortgage or any debt many millions do and they are the ones currently suffering. And baby Emily in our church, born this summer will be paying off the debt MisTruss has got the country into until she is 30 years of age. How can any of this be fair?

Know they might break Boris' promise to raise benefits in line with inflation. Even the FT says hitting the poorest does not make sense.

Go get a job!!!! Some would but the money does not cover child care costs. Some would but like a friend in the 1980's/1990's "you are great but you have a degree so you will leave as soon as you can get a job you are qualified for." Or in one case get to the interview stage with 3 others. Doing a job you have done before, only one there with experience and the right qualifications. One person got the job, one got part time job and one got a promise they would get a job when one came up in the near future. Only the one qualified to do the job missed out because she would have had to be paid more. So the students at the college were the ones who were shortchanged as well as another kick in the teeth for my friend.

Truss is a Tory, why are you surprised that she disdains the poor? - It is a key symptom of the disease.

May was a robot - but a dangerous robot - a disaster as home secretary and PM
Johnson was a clown - but a dangerous clown - a disaster as foreign secretary and PM
Truss is an idiot - but a dangerous idiot - a disaster, full stop.

And the absolutely staggering view from Tory Party Chairman Jake Berry, that if you're short of cash you should either turn off your heating or get a better job.

He's either saying "let them eat cake", or he's saying that the minimum wage needs to increase because lower paid jobs do not cover the bills. Or possibly that everyone in lower paid jobs should quit and do something else better paid, which might give us a few problems in areas like bin collections and office cleaning for example.

I wonder which of those is the policy he thinks the Tory party is following?

I am shocked, so so shocked...

"OBR forecasts likely to show £60bn-£70bn hole after Kwarteng’s mini-budget"
Kwasi Kwarteng has been handed independent forecasts on the state of the UK finances that are expected to show a hole of more than £60bn left by his sweeping tax cuts and a sharply slowing growth outlook.
