Oh, that's just because I switched some long-term ongoing DDs and don't want them drawing funds from temporary accounts for longer than necessary.

i'm waiting for the DDs to be live and taken from the Lloyds Classic account before switching. i'm not sure if that should be necessary, but when they haven't been taken in the past i've found that they haven't transferred across to a new account provider.

as an aside, it appears that we don't need to open a new account to bag the £200, we can transfer into an existing account. my existing FlexAccount would do nicely.

My switch of that TSB account to a new FlexDirect account completed today. They transferred both active and inactive direct debits (can't recall any switch doing that differently, tbh).

Nationwide had automatically associated the newly opened account with my existing digital banking profile, so they seem quite organised these days. My expectation of being fortuitously paid the £200 is not even 33% at this point. I switched to an existing FlexAccount last time.

does inactive refer to DDs that have been taken before but not recently, or could it include DDs that have not been taken for the first time yet?

fwiw within a few days i should have two small Pension DDs taken from my Lloyds Classic 1 account, and am setting up a Credit Card DD and a small Pension DD from my new Lloyds Classic 2 account too. the idea of the latter account is to have something set up for when a further suitable offer should appear in the market.

In this case, my account had 2 x DDs with recent activity and some others that have been switched from account to account several times without any activity for years (possibly never).

interesting. the distinction i'm angling for is whether the DDs have ever been taken though.
