What are the rules for posting in the forum?

Members are asked to observe the following guidelines when posting messages:

1. Make posts relevant and interesting. Make worthwhile posts of genuine value to other visitors. Choose the correct forum for your topic, and make posts relevant to the forum subject matter. For matters only of interest to one or two individuals, try to use Private Messaging rather than the public forums.

2. Avoid duplication. Check your question / point has not already been posted. Look at FAQ and browse/search the forum before posting

3. Be civilised. Make your point in a calm and constructive way. Respect other people's views and earn their respect. Keep the posts suitable for viewing by all by refraining from any unsuitable language or posting comments that might cause offence.

4. Don't get personal. If someone says something you don't agree with, criticise the argument not the person. If someone upsets you, just ignore it or consider sending a polite Private Message to that person to try and settle things amicably. If that doesn't work and you need further action, let the forum moderator know.

5. Use descriptive subject headings
Give a reasonably full and accurate description of your post topic in the Subject field. It makes it easier for people to find the information they need, and increases the quality of responses to your post. For example don't just post subject titles like "Advice needed", "Great offer", "cashback". Your post is hardly going to stand out in a list of 50, is it? Also, people might click on it thinking it's about something else. They'll be disappointed, frustrated and less likely to read your posts in the future.

6. Respect privacy
Most members here choose to remain anonymous, using fictitious 'handles'. This is generally a good thing, allowing people to speak freely and without prejudice. If a member chooses to reveal his or her identity, all well and good. But if they do not, other members should not post any personal details about them without their permission. Neither should the content of private messages be posted on the forums, the key word being 'private'. Never post an email address in a public forum.

7. Site plugs
Please also note our policy with respect to posting links for other sites - see here

8. Keep it 'legit'
Please do not use the forums to suggest or encourage potentially illegal / fraudulent practice, abuse of retailer promotions or other unethical behaviour. Please also note that posts which promote or encourage activity on easy cashback offers should be restricted to the Shareholder+ forum

9. Be positive
We are not averse to a bit of constructive criticism, but posters who are consistently negative or provocative do not make the forums fun and pleasant for the rest of us. Remember that you can always direct any personal complaints via the query system

10. Be thick-skinned. On a busy, open forum such as this you are bound to find posts, perhaps even ones directed at you, that are not to your taste. Whilst we do want the forum to act as a good advertisment for our site, we have limited resources to resolve "disputes" and would encourage you to try to "rise above" any remarks aimed at you personally. Your fellow members will no doubt take a dim view of posters who consistently make unwelcome posts and we will take action where necessary. If all else fails then do submit a query but ultimately, those who are especially sensitive to public comment may be best advised not to participate in the forums.

================================================

If, in our judgement, a member posts in contravention of these guidelines we will withdraw posting privileges from that member and, if necessary, close their account with the loss of any rewards earned. This is necessary to keep the forums friendly and informative for the benefit of all members.

If you see a post on the forum that you believe is breaking one of the above rules, please click on the Exclamation Mark icon next to the post to report it to the moderators. If someone's posting habits annoy you but fall short of breaking the forum rules, you always have the option to ignore them by making them a "foe". Foes are members which will be "ignored" by default when you view the forum i.e. posts by these members will not be fully visible.

This guidance will be continually amended and updated, so please check this page from time to time. Thanks for your co-operation :)
