Can I post a link to another site on the forums?

You must keep within our posting guidance when including links* to other sites in your posts.

We don't want to appear to be 'censoring' discussion and many such links can be of benefit to other members. But we have to balance that agains the risk of the forums becoming clogged with 'spam' + competitors taking advantage of our good nature https://www.imutual.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif

You are allowed to post links for your own benefit, subject to the following:

Rules for the posting links from which you might gain personally

The link must not be:

- A non-imutual link to an imutual partner site (use the offer posting facility instead). By clicking a non-imutual link to such sites, other members may miss out on their cashback
- A link that redirects to another site (e.g. an abbreviated link such as bit.ly t.co)

* links = web address of the site in question OR other information (e.g. sitename, logo, link to page on third party sites) whose effect is to publicise the site in question

All other forum rules must be adhered to, including:
- Use the most appropriate forum for the subject matter
- Be open and honest about any vested interest (e.g. referral link)
- Don't duplicate an offer that has already been posted

Any post found to be contravening these rules will be removed (or moved to a different forum as appropriate). Action will be taken against repeat offenders, including removal of posting privileges and even account suspension and forfeiting of cashback in extreme circumstances.

Suspect Links
If it's not obvious to our moderators whether a link you post is an affiliate link or not (e.g. if it is a 'redirecting' link where you end up at a different page from the one originally clicked on), your post may get moved or deleted. If you think a link should not have been moved, please send a polite Private Message to the forum moderators.

Definition of affiliate link: A web address for a merchant's site containing a custom identifier that enables the merchant to automatically track who is sending traffic to their site. The merchant rewards them for click-throughs, leads or sales according to an agreed scheme.

Refer-a-friend schemes
Under specific circumstances, we do allow you to benefit from refer-a-friend schemes offered by other sites. The only 'refer a friend' arrangements we allow you to use are where:
- You post details of an offer and invite people to send you their contact details (normally an email address) so you can 'refer' them
- The member sends you their details by PM or email, giving explicit permission for you to pass this on to the offer site
- You submit the contact details to the offer site, which then sends an invitation to the referred member
- The referred member signs up to the offer, and you receive the referral benefit

Any other method of benefiting personally from offers posted (e.g. clicking on a link) is disallowed.

We feel these rules are necessary to:
- Ensure members don't miss out on cashback
- Keep the forums spam-free
- Protect imutual's revenue, which benefits shareholders and helps to keep the site free of large flashing banners, pop-ups and other intrusive advertising.

Thanks for your co-operation :)
